Eat Well Nomad

PSA/Recall:
I discovered that my last batch of turkey meatloaf and also veggie burgers had a faint smell of oil (when dry) from the freeze dryer. It’s still edible, as when I reconstituted I couldn’t barely smell it and ate the food it was fine, but my standards are high when it comes to quality.

So, given this ‘lesson learned’ of the quirks of freeze drying machines, as they’re so fussy, I will fully refund anyone who purchased from me those meals. PLEASE let me know, if you’ve had this problem with any of my food. I would love to regift you that same meal but right now my freeze dryer is under maintenance for this reason. Sigh…. So, I can only compensate you financially.

I’m incredibly sorry for this snafu. In the freeze dry groups that I attend several folks have reported this issue and they don’t mind it much. Well, I MIND! So, don’t be shy, let me refund you via PayPal.

Thanks so much for being our customer. We value you.

In Gratitude,
Vanessa Wishstar

If you’re a local, we have a special offer for you arriving soon. “Pack-Your-Own” is a service we’re devising of where you prepare your own food and use our freeze dryer to preserve it. This is especially good for folks who live or travel off-grid as all you need is warm water to reconstitute.

How it works:

1. Get on our email list (side bar to the right) to sign up for “Pack-Your-Own” (among other goodies).

2. (*By late 2019 when we’re up and running step two will happen, but sign up before then!) Once signed up, you’ll be given instructions on how to schedule a time slot, choosing a date of drop off, of your prepared food. Freeze drying takes about 30-48 hours.

3. Decide what food that you want to freeze dry. We have helpful hints here (coming soon). We will then put your food onto 4 stainless steel trays (roughly 7.5″ x 18″ x 0.75″) and freeze dry it upon arrival.

4. Prepare your food at your own home.

5. Drop off your food on your chosen date, morning of.

6. We will then freeze-dry it for you and let you know when it is done. We will take a picture and email it to you and then immediately pack and seal it. We do it this way because we cannot have the dried food sit around due to the high humidity in the area. And this way there’s no cross-contamination – keeping your food as safe and dry as possible.

We will be at the Haines Farmer’s Market almost every Saturday (10am-noon at the Fairgrounds) so you can come see us and possibly sample our food. Please email us if you have any questions.
